Episode 06: Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon is how I imagine life would look like on Mars. I know its unoriginal and trite to say, but ‘alien landscape’ describes it perfectly. The site is truly spectacular with strange rock formations that stretch the imagination. I even found one hoodoo that looks like a Daoist nun saluting Xuánwǔ, the symbol of Wudang (turtle and snake)….maybe the heat went to my head! Regardless, it feels magical and otherworldly to walk among the hoodoos. Although, I didn’t have to wait in crowded lines like Zion, the path was busy at times. We did find ourselves alone for brief moments, which was nice, but never long enough to shoot a qigong set without interruption. I decided to do it anyway and found a cubby right off the path for the first clip. Not my favorite way to practice, but still worth it, despite the strange looks I got from spectators. The second clip, however, was a lucky find just out-of-view. I took my time with that one and enjoyed the illusion of solitude at Bryce.
